What we collect, what we don’t, and how to reach us. Short, because there isn’t much.
The Idea Machine and everything else you click on the page runs in your browser. None of it comes back to us.
This website is run by Spark Media (Pvt) Ltd, a creative agency based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. We decide how any personal data you share with us is used, which makes us the “controller” under Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022.

When you contact us. If you email us, call us or message us on WhatsApp, we receive whatever you choose to send, usually your name, contact details, company and the details of your project. We use it to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to scope, deliver and invoice the work.
When you visit the site. Like almost every website, the server that hosts this one may keep standard technical records, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. We use these only to keep the site secure and working, not to build a profile of you.
That’s all we collect.
This website doesn’t set cookies and doesn’t use cookie-like tracking such as local storage or tracking pixels, so there’s no cookie banner to click away.
The site links out to other services (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and Google Maps). Once you click through, you’re on their site, under their privacy policies, and they may set their own cookies.
We don’t sell personal data. We use ordinary business tools to run Spark Media, such as email, messaging (including WhatsApp), file storage, accounting and web hosting. Some of these providers store data outside Sri Lanka. They handle your information only to provide those services to us.
The testimonials on this site show the names, roles and companies of the people quoted, with links to their public LinkedIn or Google profiles where they have one. If you’re quoted and would like yours changed or removed, email us and we’ll sort it.
We keep enquiry messages for as long as it takes to deal with them. If we work together, we keep project and billing records for as long as the relationship lasts and for the period we’re required to keep business and tax records. If you’d like something deleted sooner, just ask.
Under the Personal Data Protection Act you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent where we rely on it.
Email talktous@sparkmedia.lk and we’ll respond. If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka.
If we ever add analytics, advertising pixels or anything else that uses cookies, we’ll update this page first and ask for your consent where it’s required. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
